A former policeman, already facing charges related to rhino poaching and murder, was arrested yesterday in Hazyview for possession of explosives. The arrest took place during a raid by the SAPS’s National Intervention Unit at a workshop, following a detailed investigation by the Hawks.

The suspect, whose identity cannot be disclosed until his court appearance, was found with two sticks of dynamite, two detonators, two cords, and three rounds of .458 ammunition. He spent the night in custody and is set to appear in the Calcutta Magistrate’s Court today.
