Snow and Cold Front Expected in Gauteng and Mpumalanga

Snowfall is anticipated in certain areas of Gauteng and Mpumalanga this weekend as a cold front moves into the northern and eastern parts of South Africa. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with the cold front reaching Gauteng, North West, and Limpopo by Saturday, 21 September.

According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecaster Luthando Masimini, snowfall is possible in parts of Mpumalanga, particularly around Standerton. Light snow or sleet may also occur in Gauteng. The cold front is expected to bring isolated showers and thundershowers in these regions, with the system exiting by Sunday.

Pretoria is forecasted to experience cold weather, with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 21°C, while Johannesburg will be cooler, with a high of just 15°C and rain expected from Friday into Saturday.
