THREE SUSPECTS REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOR UNLAWFUL DEALING IN DAGGA

Three suspects, Goodman Ndlovu (28), Sphelele Kunene (28) and Khumbulani Dube (51) were remanded in custody today, 05 September 2024 by Carolina Magistrate’s Court for dealing in dagga. The suspects will make their second court appearance in the same court on 06 September 2024 for a formal bail application.

According to information, on 04 September 2024, members from Carolina Visible Policing were performing their patrol duties when they spotted a blue Toyota Hilux with three occupants.

The vehicle looked suspicious, as a result members decided to stop it and conducted a search. Upon searching, 17 wrapped refused bags starched with dagga weighing 183.5 kg’s was found.

It was during this time when the three were arrested as well as charged for dealing in dagga. The vehicle was also confiscated for further investigation.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has welcomed the arrest of the suspects. “Police in Mpumalanga will not allow drug dealers and drug traffickers to do as they wish in the province,” said the General.
