Four Dead, Seven Injured in Taxi Rank Shooting

In a tragic incident at the Moletlane crossroads near a taxi rank in Polokwane, Limpopo,
four people were killed, and seven others were injured in a shooting on Wednesday.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the police spokesperson, unknown gunmen
driving a white BMW and a black Mercedes-Benz opened fire on taxis, fatally shooting
two taxi drivers, one passenger, and another motorist.

The assailants fled the scene after the shooting, leaving behind four deceased victims
and four others with gunshot wounds requiring hospitalization. Later, three more injured
individuals came forward, bringing the total number of those injured to seven.

Ledwaba stated that the investigation revealed five taxis and a bakkie were damaged
during the shooting, with spent assault rifles and pistol cartridges recovered from the
scene.

Limpopo Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe has ordered an urgent
investigation into the shooting and condemned the senseless act of violence. The
provincial taxi violence investigation unit is probing four counts of murder and seven
counts of attempted murder.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and
assist the police investigation confidentially by contacting Col Kgadiswana Mnisi or the
