Police hunt suspects in funeral robbery case

Police have launched a manhunt for six suspects who allegedly robbed mourners during
a funeral in Alexandra. The incident occurred when the majority of mourners had left the
family home to proceed to the cemetery for the burial.

According to reports, two of the suspects had visited the family on Thursday, leading
authorities to believe they were scouting the premises before the robbery. A family
member recognized them during the incident.

As the larger group of mourners departed for the cemetery, the suspects struck,
pointing firearms at the few people remaining at the home. They robbed the mourners of
food prepared for the funeral, including bowls of meat, rice, pap, salads, and six
different coloured dishes.

The suspects also entered the house and stole offerings estimated to be less than
R300. Additionally, they robbed mourners of their mobile phones and fled the scene in a
white Amarok 4×4 bakkie with the Gauteng registration number KW 91 YP GP.

Upon returning from the cemetery, the mourners discovered the theft of food,
refreshments, and the personal belongings of other attendees.

The police have requested the public’s assistance in locating the suspects and have
urged anyone with information to contact the crime prevention hotline at 0860010111 or
log on to the MYSAPSAPP. Informants can choose to remain anonymous.

Authorities are investigating the incident and have vowed to apprehend the suspects
responsible for this brazen act during a time of mourning and vulnerability for the family.
