Another utility manager gunned down mercilessly

A 44-year-old female utility manager was assassinated in a brazen daytime shooting on Tuesday afternoon in Lynnville, eMalahleni. The victim, whose identity has not been officially released, was repeatedly shot at point-blank range while sitting inside her Isuzu double cab bakkie at the intersection of Botha Avenue and Hectorway Drive. She died at the scene.

This tragic incident marks the second utility manager killed execution-style in eMalahleni in just three weeks. Police are investigating potential links between the two murders. According to the victim’s husband, she was a manager at a local power utility company.

“The manner in which the attack was carried out suggests it was a premeditated hit job by professional killers or hitmen,” said Vosman Police Station Commander Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu. “Nothing was taken from the victim, indicating robbery was not the motive.”

Ndlovu vehemently condemned the ruthless killing, lamenting that deadly attacks by hired gunmen are becoming increasingly common in the area. He urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in identifying and arresting the perpetrators.

“We cannot allow these merciless acts to become the norm in our community,” Ndlovu stated. “I call on all citizens to assist us in solving this senseless murder of a defenceless woman.”

Anyone with potential leads is requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Muntu Mbatha at 082 600 8537. The eMalahleni community remains on edge as police investigate the motives and search for the assassins responsible for this brutal slaying and the previous utility manager homicide weeks prior.
