Woman faces murder charge in fatal boyfriend stabbing

Woman Faces Murder Charge in Fatal Boyfriend Stabbing In a tragic turn of events, a woman stands accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend in a
domestic altercation that unfolded late Saturday night. According to authorities, the incident
occurred around 11:30 p.m. on March 9th, when police responded to a report of a stabbing
at a residence in Lilydale Trust.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhuhli, stated
that upon arrival, officers were directed to the suspect, Mikaketako Mabuye, by a family
member who identified her as the perpetrator in the stabbing of Bruce Shilavi.

Preliminary reports suggest that the couple had been engaged in a heated argument inside
the house, during which the victim was allegedly partially undressed when the suspect
allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed her boyfriend three times in the heart.

Shilavi was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
Mabuye was promptly arrested and appeared in court on Monday, March 11th, facing
charges of murder.

The suspect has been remanded in custody, with her next court appearance scheduled for
March 18th, where she is expected to make a formal bail application. Investigations into the
case are ongoing.

Notably, sources indicate that this was not the first instance of alleged violence in the
relationship. Mabuye had previously been accused of pouring hot water on Shilavi’s private
area and dragging him, after which she reportedly surrendered herself to the authorities.

While the details surrounding this tragic incident are still unfolding, the case serves as a
stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the urgent need to
address such issues within our communities.
