Mourners at the Ga-Malope cemetery in Wales village, outside Acornhoek, were left stunned
on Sunday morning when the hearse carrying their loved one’s coffin unexpectedly burst into
flames. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred shortly after the mourners arrived
at the cemetery and unloaded the coffin from the vehicle.

“Everything went according to the program, but after they offloaded the coffin from the
hearse, the hearse quickly explosively caught fire,” said one of the mourners. “The hearse
burnt into ashes a few seconds after they offloaded the coffin.”

Witnesses described the fire as starting like an explosion, with the hearse engulfed in strong
flames within seconds. Thankfully, the coffin had been removed from the vehicle just
moments before, narrowly avoiding a potentially devastating outcome.

“The mourners believed it was the grace of God that saved the body of their loved one from
the fire,” another mourner stated. “It could have been worse. The fire was meant to burn the
coffin, but because of grace, it happened a moment after we offloaded our loved one from
the hearse.”

Photos of the shocking incident have since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread
discussion within the local community. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire,
which left the hearse reduced to ashes at the cemetery.
