In a chilling incident that has left the community reeling, the bodies of a four-year-old girl and
her father were found hanging from roof beams at their residence in Bela Bela, Limpopo.
According to police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba, the tragic discovery was made on
Sunday evening, prompting authorities to initiate murder and inquest inquiries.

“On arrival at the residence on Malebye Street, the police were confronted with a tragic
scene in a room at the back of the house, where the bodies of a four-year-old girl and her
father were found hanging from the roof beams, each with ropes around their necks,”
Ledwaba stated grimly.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the father took his daughter’s life before taking his
own, though the motive behind this heinous act remains unclear. Provincial police
commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe has described the incident as a “sombre reminder of
the urgent need to seek support when facing domestic challenges.”

While the mother was not present during the tragedy, domestic issues cannot be ruled out as
a potential factor. The community is left grappling with the profound loss of two innocent
lives, and the authorities remain committed to uncovering the truth behind this heartbreaking
tragedy.
