According to information it is alleged that a helpless 27-year-old woman was walking from a liquor outlet after she was allegedly dragged into the bushes in the full view of three men and allegedly raped in Machadodorp on Sunday evening. It is alleged that the men never came to assist the victim when she was dragged. 

The victim then went to the police station to open a case. Police never wasted time. They immediately took her to the hospital for medical attention and evidence collection.

That is when the police started tracing the suspect and he was arrested at his workplace on Tuesday. The 26-year-old suspect is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga has applauded the swift arrest of an alleged rapist. 

The commissioner has also called upon community members to report when crimes occur in their presence. “Besides being raped, the victim could have been murdered,” she warned.
