ANC Awaits Zuma’s Fate
The ANC has yet to hear from Jacob Zuma on his suspension, says party secretary general Fikile Mbalula.
Zuma was suspended last month for endorsing the new MK Party before the elections. Despite earlier vowing to stay in the ANC, he has not responded to the disciplinary action.
Mbalula said Thursday the party’s leaders will enforce their decision, whether the former president replies or not.
“The NEC will follow the constitution,” he stated. “The decision will be announced publicly.”
The ANC suspended Zuma in January, accusing the ex-leader of bringing the party into disrepute. His endorsement of the MK Party was seen as undermining the ANC.
With elections nearing, the party now awaits Zuma’s response. But so far, the silence has been deafening.
