Mzansi teen impresses FC Bayern Giants
Bayern Munich signed a potential young player from South Africa due to his impressive performances in a recent German competition.
Buthelezi, who currently represents AmaZulu at the under-17 level, represented South Africa at the 10th edition of the Bayern Youth Cup in Munich, Germany.
Using its social media platforms, FC Bayern announced that Aphiwe Buthelezi had won the FC Bayern Youth Cup Player of the Tournament and will join the FC Bayern World Team.
“At the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2023, which was held this weekend at the Olympiastadion, the former home of FC Bayern, South African Buthelezi Aphiwe presented himself successfully and was named the best player of the entire tournament.
“As the MVP of the Youth Cup, he has thus qualified for the FC Bayern World Squad 2024. Congratulation” the post read.
Buthelezi is not the only South African player who has enjoyed success in the German league; Siyabonga Nkosi and Steven Pienaar are just two examples.
