Sibusiso Herbert Madonsela (52) was arrested by the Hawks Nelspruit-based Serious Commercial
Crime Investigation for fraud and the contravention of the Tax Administration Act.

Madonsela is accused of submitting Tax Returns for his company ZUC Construction illegally and
falsely with the purpose of defrauding SARS in 2019.

The South African Revenue Services experienced a loss of R 4 043 653.26. The case was forwarded to
the Hawks Nelspruit-based Serious Corruption Investigation for additional investigation.

Madonsela was detained after being linked to the crime throughout the inquiry. On Friday,
September 1, 2023, Madonsela appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court and was given R
10,000.00 bail. The case was postponed until September 15, 2023, to be transferred to the
Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
