A crash on R555 claims six lives

Six people were killed on Tuesday morning as a result of a crash that occurred on the
R555 road between Ogies and Emalahleni. The Toyota Avanza and a truck were
involved in a side-swipe collision.

The driver of the Avanza appeared to lose control, causing the vehicle to collide with the
truck.

The victims were all passengers of the Avanza. The driver and five passengers were
among those who died. They were pronounced deceased at the spot.

The truck driver escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, four people died after a vehicle they were travelling crashed into a donkey,
and overturned on the N4 Schoemanskloof road near Bambi at about 01h00 today.

The occupants were travelling in a Toyota Fortuner from the direction of Mbombela.

Three people, including a 13-year-old, died on the spot and one in hospital. All
deceased were passengers in the SUV.

One seriously injured driver and three slight passengers are currently receiving
treatment at the nearby hospital in Belfast.

The investigation into the two crashes is still ongoing. However, dangerous overtaking
can not be ruled out.
