South Africa has chosen to be neutral in this matter. The US has threatened to withdraw its
investments in South Africa if the country continues to conduct military exercises with Russia.

According to Naledi Pandor, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations, the country would
wish to remain eligible for AGOA but would not choose sides between the two countries. And the US
cannot compel or bully SA to quit Russia.
