On Tuesday, June 13, a 51-year-old man appeared in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court for
allegedly trying to kill his wife. His case was continued to June 21, 2023, where
additional investigation and a formal bail application will take place while the suspect
remains in custody.

Information indicates that on June 12, 2023, around 12:30, the suspect, a taxi driver, is
thought to have been left with his wife after dropping off all the passengers in town. On
their drive home, the pair allegedly got into an argument.

On arrival at home, the victim tried to escape, but she was cornered and was allegedly
assaulted before being dragged back to the house.

He allegedly tied her with cable ties and forcefully loaded her into Quantum.

According to the information received, the suspect drove to the R50 road heading to the
nearby farm.

The husband allegedly shot his wife in the stomach after a protracted fight on the farm.
He agreed after she begged him to take her to the hospital.

The defendant was taken into custody and his pistol was seized for further examination
after police were called to the hospital.
