Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency (IUCMA) and Ehlanzeni TVET
College, a top provider of technical vocational education and training in Mpumalanga,
have teamed up to place students for on-the-job training so that they can get a feel for
the actual business world.
The two organizations’ collaboration aims to meet the demand for students to be placed
for apprenticeships as well as the requirement to create a trained workforce that is in
line with the sector. Through the partnership, Ehlanzeni TVET College students will
have access to practical training and mentoring opportunities and will also support the
work of the IUCMA.
“We are excited to partner with Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency to
promote sustainable water management practices and build the skills of our students,”
Mr. EM Mbuyane, Principal of Ehlanzeni TVET College.
He continued by noting that this partnership would give students useful real-world
experience while also promoting the sustainable growth of our region.
The CEO of Inkomati said they believe that by working together with the college, they
can make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of our region and the
country as a whole.
The partnership will involve a range of activities, including among others training and
capacity-building. Students at Ehlanzeni TVET College will have the opportunity to
participate in internships and work-integrated learning programs with the IUCMA, which
will enable them to gain practical experience and develop the skills needed to
participate in the mainstream economy.
